Phoscrete makes high‑performance magnesium phosphate cement (MPC) repair materials for durable structural concrete repairs and construction. Our easy‑to‑use formulas set fast, bond strong, and perform reliably—even in sub‑freezing and hot weather.

The Crazy Strong Bond of Phoscrete MPC Concrete

Most structural concrete repairs fail at the bond line. The repair material itself holds, but the interface between new and existing concrete does not. That is the failure mode magnesium phosphate cement (MPC) is specifically designed to address.

What Makes MPC Different from Ordinary Portland Cement

Ordinary Portland cement (OPC) repairs a bond mechanically to existing concrete. The connection depends on surface prep, moisture conditions, and curing time. MPC bonds chemically. The magnesium phosphate reaction creates a direct chemical link between the repair material and the substrate, including bonding to itself across lifts – eliminating cold joints.

The US Army Corps of Engineers has researched and documented MPC concrete performance for infrastructure repair applications.

Phoscrete MPC Bond Strength and Compressive Strength Data

Phoscrete MPC formulas are tested to:

  • 4,000+ psi compressive strength within [1] hour of placement
  • 12,000 psi at 28 days – approximately [3] times the compressive strength of standard concrete
  • High bond strength to existing concrete substrate without requiring a bonding primer in most applications

These values are condition-dependent. Verify applicable strength targets against your project’s TDG and spec requirements.

MPC Formula Options for Structural Repair

Phoscrete Formula 1-HC – Rapid setting horizontal concrete repairs. Designed for winter use and tight return-to-service windows.

Phoscrete Formula 3-HC – Traffic-ready in approximately [2] hours. Built for larger pours and overlays.

Phoscrete Formula 3-VO – Formulated for vertical and overhead concrete patches where sag resistance and bond are critical.

Phoscrete Rebar Coat – Applied to reinforcing steel prior to build-out with Formula 3 materials. Stops active rust and prevents the ring anode effect in the surrounding structure.

Who MPC Repair Is Right For
MPC concrete repair is used on bridges, runways, parking decks, highway infrastructure, and industrial floors where rapid return to service, cold weather performance, and durable bond strength are the primary constraints.

If your repair window is short, your temperatures are variable, or your structure cannot tolerate a callback, MPC is worth evaluating against your current specified material.
