ShotPump™ Grant Award Announcement

Announcing The Winner of The Inaugural Phoscrete ShotPump™ Grant

We are excited to announce that the New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NH DOT) is the recipient of our inaugural Phoscrete ShotPump™ Grant for 2025. This grant marks a significant step forward in utilizing innovative technology to enhance infrastructure repair and maintenance.

About The Grant

As part of the grant, NH DOT will receive the Phoscrete ShotPump™ package, including free delivery, and on-site operations training. The ShotPump is designed to support their efforts in performing efficient and durable concrete repairs, both spray-applied for vertical and overhead applications and pumped for horizontal and castable installations.

NH DOT’s Project Details

Under the leadership of Principal Engineer Levi Byers, NH DOT plans to perform vertical/overhead (VO) repairs on the deck soffit of Dover 174/060 which is a concrete rigid frame (CRF) bridge carrying the NH16/Spaulding Turnpike over New Bellamy Lane. The repairs will specifically address concrete spalling at the construction joint of the CRF due to corrosion.

The main project objective is to perform VO repairs from underneath the deck soffit utilizing a Phoscrete’s VO product and the ShotPump. Another objective is to perform this work during the cold winter months. They will be using Phoscrete Formula 1-VO that works even in sub-freezing temperatures.

As the seasons change, NH DOT will have the option to use Phoscrete Formula 3, suitable for warmer weather concrete repairs, both sprayed (F3-VO) and pumped (F3-HC).

❝We are grateful to have been selected for the inaugural Phoscrete ShotPump Grant. We can’t wait to put this innovative technology to good use and tackle our most pressing repair challenges.❞

-Levi Byers (Principal Engineer, NH DOT)

Participation in the Innovation Demonstrations Program

NH DOT’s project will be part of the Innovation Demonstrations Program (formerly ITD), which focuses on documenting and sharing field experience utilizing innovative infrastructure preservation materials and methods. The program aims to provide valuable insights and data to the bridge preservation community, enhancing collective knowledge and practices.

Looking Ahead

The project promises significant structural improvements, efficiency gains, and public benefits, while aiming to reduce long-term maintenance needs. These efforts will not only benefit NH DOT but also contribute to broader advancements in infrastructure repair technology.
